I think its great when music sounds completely effortless. Honestly, it feels like Sego recorded this track in 30 minutes. It’s totally spontaneous – from the collage like beats to the stream of conscious lyrics. Eventually the band do burst into song, but it seems like an afterthought, or when the lead singer got bored of talking. There’s even a bit when one of the band members makes these weird sound effects with his mouth.
Weirdly, Obscene Dream does have a sense of rhythm, and yes it will make you dance. Whether that is intentional I don’t know. It sounds different though, and it’s wonderfully quirky! A great way to face Monday.
